A sneak peak into the new year? or Just when you thought I couldn't get weirder...

So I'm already pretty weird right?  (you don't have to lie, I'm secure in my weirdness)

But this morning SP and I definitely reached a new level of weirdness as we've started "juicing."  I know that the word juice should generally not be put into a verb format, especially when you aren't talking about juicing an orange etc... but you know, you do what you have to do.

I know that juicing is a pretty old concept but its new to me.  And definitely new to SP who grew up in a very meat and potatoes family (I mean I grew up in a pasta and sauce family so it's not like either of us grew up with Jack Lalanne as our grandfathers).

But recently several of my friends have been on some serious health kicks (people going vegetarian and vegan and even juicing etc).  And I like to be alive.  So I'm always interested in new ways to add some healthy to our food "regimen" and some potential years to our lives.

I also watched the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead (which I highly highly recommend everybody watches) which got my juicing wheels a turning.  Now all this being said don't get all preachy on me.  I'm not going to stop eating real food, because peeps, you know I like food...like A LOT.

But.

I am jumping on the bandwagon of this healthy juicing nonsense.

So last night.  SP and I strapped on our big girl boots and went juicer shopping.  (I must divulge that she and I, combined and separately, had already done quite a bit of online reviewing).  And then (at Best Buy of all places) we found this Beaut!  And she was shiny and clean and ready to juice every kind of strange veggie and fruit combo.  (I had to explain to the cashier what it was and what it does...yeahhh...16 year olds who work at Best Buy apparently aren't really into juicing)

After a quicksie-poo trip to the local grocery store to stock (i.e. STUFF) our fridge full of veggies and fruits, SP and I went to bed ready to try our first juice in the morning.

And Drumroll please....TA DA!

Tie dye you ask?!  Juice I say!

That freaky red color comes from beets (not my fav) Overall I would say the first juicing experience was a success.  Minus the fact that it looked like something got slaughtered in the kitchen (beet juice looks freakishly like blood) the juice was fresh, relatively tasty and the juicer was so easy to use and didn't make Kori cower the way that the blender does.

And to add a little TMI to your day - my pee was one SCARY color after this!

Cheers!

Christmas a la the Drandersons**

**Dranderson - Driver/Anderson

For Christmas I got:
-a week with my parents
-a weekend with 8 adults and 1 insane dog crammed into our tiny apartment
-one missing wallet (SP’s, not mine, but still no good)
-a last minute trip to the nutcracker (w00t)
-SO MANY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DATES
-Gunther’s ice cream.  Twice
-my first xmas dinner off without a hitch (and yes it was Christmas picnic, but what are you gonna do)
-lovin’ feelins
-2 cuisenart chopper/grinders (Santa and SP know me oh so well)
-Diabetes. (ok maybe not but damn close)

It was quite the Driver Christmas palooza.  Got to spend some quality time with the parentals.  We mostly hung out and played with the dog (who suddenly decided she didn’t hate my entire family).  We also took a tour of the capitol building which was interesting and decked out for Christmas (and Hanukah…if one menorah counts as decorating for Hanukah).

We also went to see the nutcracker on a spontaneous decision and it was FABULOUS.  Very well done, beautiful dancers and costumes and so much fun and very Christmassy.  I of course took no pictures.  Mmmm

Over the weekend my grandparents, brother and his girlfriend joined the party.  Thus packing 8 full grown adults into a tiny 2 bedroom townhouse.  Yeah.  We made it work people (a la Tim Gunn).  Decorated cookies, looked at Christmas lights and ate some amazing amazing ice cream.  Dudes.  If you live in the Sacramento area and you love ice cream (if you don’t we can’t be friends) you must go to Gunthers immediately.

Everybody getting in on the Cookie Decorating Fun!

SP's Masterpieces!
Final products before they were quickly consumed

Christmas morning was slow (hey...we're all old around here and stuff).  We ate leftover ham and eggs and bread and such.  We opened (a million) presents.  We spent time together watching crappy you tube videos and just laughing.
SANTA CAME!

Christmas day love :)

The Queen MUM
All in all I would say it was practically perfect in every way.

And the best part...we're doing it all over again in a week and half with the Anderson side of the family.  Which is lovely for oh so many reasons.

I hope you all had a fabulous Holiday weekend (Christmas if that is your thing...)  Much love and good feelings during this happy non-denominational winter celebratory season!

Besos!

When Christmas lights and Crack mix

Merry Christmas to ALL!  Full Driverpalooza X-mas run down to come soon but in the meantime...

Christmas light date was so fun.  We do it every year and this year was not a let down at all.  The best part is that now that the fam is here we got to do it all over again and again and again.

I think this is the new Chevy Chase house!

This is a moving truck...right!

Also look who has decided that she doesn't hate grandma and grandpa anymore?!  w00t!

Happy Christmas my loves!

Christmas Music Grinch

Stolen from Here.  And No.  Just NO.

Christmas music I just can not get behind:
-Justin Beiber, enough said.
-Any bumping/pumped up version of little drummer boy
-Any version of little drummer boy at all - I just hate that song
-Anything sung by chipmunks, muppets, any kind of real or fake animal, Disney characters.
-Lady Gaga Christmas tree (WHAT IS THAT?  and I LOVE the gaga)

I am the bearer of all things christmassy (except christmas broaches and headbands...yeah, no).  Like I'm loving the decorations and the smelly trees and even the 59,000 treats that are around during the christmas season (my willpower is getting the ultimate test lately).  But there is some really bad christmas music out there.  And I like christmas music...so what does that say....

Tonight SP and I are going on an xmas light date :)  I also want to buy shoes but I think this is problematic for 2 reasons.  1) my father already calls me Imelda Marcos (whateverrrr) and 2) I'm pretty sure SP is not going to go for the xmas lights and shoe shopping are practically the same things argument.  We'll see if I can sweet talk her.

Tomorrow is my last day of work before vacay-christmas-family palooza.  And it is a half day because of a holiday luncheon.

Oh vacation brain, you will be set free soon.

And now per the usual a question for the masses - to nut cracker or not to nut cracker?  Do we subject the less enthusiased to the ballet to get some christmassy-ness on or do we just take the crew to the movies and call it a day?  Discuss.
