Sunshine happy time palooza.

Apparently I'm really into paloozas lately.

And cooking.  Domesticity I am thy mistress.  But seriously, I'm no chef.  However lately I have the inner yearnings to be one.  Like one of those people that can whip up something insanely delectable.  Unfortunately my dire need for immediate food satisfaction has been killing my inner chef lately and has been resulting in SP and I eating things like instant couscous and frozen green beans for dinner.  What did people do prior to frozen foods?  And microwaves?  Holy Moly.  Reason number 3,000 why I couldn't be a pioneer.

#2 great thing of the day.  The apartment manager (finally, but who's counting the DAYS) came and installed a screen door to our porch and (supposedly) fixed our tub so that it won't leak anymore.  This would mean that nothing in our bathroom leaks which would be a glorious gift from drought gods, but I'm not holding my breath on that front.

Also apparently we have a lovely 3 day weekend rapidly approaching and one of us (MEMEMEMEME!) is very excited about that prospect.  And the fact that by some miracle of miracles SP and I do not have 99 trillion plans this weekend (maybe I should throw a "yet" on there for good measure).  I am very much looking for some hibernation time - ie i think there should probably be about 24 hours where I do not remove my pajamas, but we'll see.

In the meantime, hanging out with the animales - king louie (the second) at work and destructor at home.

DESTRUCTOR
King Louie Part II

See some of her awesome work from last friday below.

Nothing like getting home from work to THIS!

And then I counted a roll of quarters to make sure dodo did not eat all of them - 10bucks retrieved, phew!

And with that - outsies!

Besos.

A Palooza I Can Really Get Behind

I don't know these people, but clearly this guy knows a good sandwich!

Disclaimer.  I am going to whine.  You've been warned.

Ok so here's what's happening.  Everything.  That's the problem.  There is no down time because there are always 99 activities occurring simultaneously.  This = Very tired very cranky Sarah.  Not to mention that dogbert has now peed in the house 2 times since we returned home from the bro's graduation festivities this weekend (Yay Dan - who will never see this as he is currently celebrating his super awesome graduation from UC Berkley with a 2 week trip to Korea!  but none the less - Congrats!)

And now I have to say something about the idiot drivers on the way to work.  Why do people have to slam on the breaks?  I have actually nearly died 2 times in the last 3 days.  Praise buddha for the big shoulder on the side of the freeway or I definitely would have been rear ended by someone going 85mph.  Seriously, I don't understand.  Why do we go from 85mph to 40mph in 1 min.  Did something jump across 4 lanes of traffic causing you to slam on your breaks?  Did you just wake up and realize that you are driving a car and there is in fact a car in front of you?  Moderate driving people.  Lets all try it together.

In better news.  I joined the gym.  Which sounds like crappy news (because really wouldn't everybody just rather sit on the couch and eat ice cream) but is actually good news because now I am killing myself just a little bit slower. ;)  Although I have to say going from doing nearly nothing to doing a 45min spin class may not have been the best idea.  And despite the considerable amount of padding on le booty, it did not like that bike seat - ouch.  But I feel good.  And I think working out at lunch is a good option for the girl who can't seem to get up in the morning and doesn't want to work out in the 800 degree heat after work.

In case you hadn't noticed it is actually graduation palooza right now.  So in order to take part in said palooza - SP and I will be attending our second graduation of the season this coming Saturday.  This one is for my bestie best friend Ms. Denks - who will be completing a Masters in Public Health and is then planning to save the world.  Glad somebody is because god knows you are going to find me sitting on the couch eating ice cream.  Ironically her graduation falls on the day the world is going to end according to the giant billboards on my way to work.  All I ask is that it ends after the delicious lunch we are supposed to have.

It is also BABY PALOOZA.  This is a palooza I can really get behind.  If you know me you know I love me some babies.  I'm trying not to bug SP too much about having some of our own right now (because it really is not a good time with her still being in school and us being poor and all that) but its hard when I feel like the WHOLE world is pregnant.  One friend from school just had her little yum yum 2 weeks ago and she looks gorgeous and edible.  And SP's brother is having a baby (well his wife is having the baby but you get the idea) and pretty sure that little dude is coming any day now.  And SP's sister is preggo le eggo too.  And one of my favorite coworkers is also a few months into the baby baking.  Hopefully I can borrow some babies soon.  And some little people because I really do like when they walk and talk and stuff.  And despite the picture above I do not eat them - but I get pretty close.

I don't know where this post is going.  Probably nowhere (just like me?)  So now I will end it.  And hopefully someday I will put up some pics for your people to see.  But I'm not making any promises cause clearly I don't keep em!

Happy Thursday Lovelies.

Oh Heyyy Elephante

Dear internet.

So sorry I've been neglecting you.

However you are somewhat low priority when I feel like I do not even have time to breathe as of late.  Seriously though do any of you ever get that weird panicky sick feeling in your stomach.  That tightening in your chest like an elephant is sitting on it and like you are just going to fall over.  Like your heart is beating so fast it might just explode.  Apparently I actually do have a little bit of anxiety or something...

SP and I have just been going nonstop like crazy.  Like something everysingleminuteofeverysingleday.  And that is pretty exhausting.  Last night we did go out on a little datesiepoo and saw the vagina monologues.  Not only was it for a really great cause (to prevent violence against women and children) it was straight up hilarious and really interesting.  If there is a production of it somewhere near you, I highly recommend it.

Otherwise off to a million meetings this week and on Friday SP's dad is coming to have dinner with us.  Which is a pretty big deal.  And then Saturday is the Sacramento Mobile Food Festival (or SactoMoFo...hahaha)  Oh hey yummy truck food in my mouth.  To cap off the weekend a 5k with the puppy.  Don't worry we haven't been training at all so that's going to be SUPER fun.  But whatever we're going to take the dog out and at least get in a little bit of a walk.  If she doesn't completely freak around all those dogs that is.

I really do have 99 pictures from Monterey that I'm going to force you to see.  And Orphan and Real Easters were super fun.

More on those topics when the elephant moves off my chest.

Much Love,
Pookieface

A Letter to Me (from the future...dun dun dun)

You know how people always write about what they would tell themselves when they were younger about what they know now (does that sentence make ANY sense?).  You know like I could write a letter to my 12 year old self telling me not to worry about middle school and the fact that everyone called me Bus Driver because it really wasn't going to be a big deal in the future?  Well I'm going to do that now, except I'm writing to myself now from my future self - you're tripping out right now aren't you?!  I know its hard to follow but go with me here...

Dear 25 year old self,

You are so lucky.

Read that sentence again.

You are so lucky.

You are young, you are pretty stable for your age, you have really awesome family and friends, you get to travel and have fun and enjoy your time.  Guess what you're not even in school any more and you should definitely be enjoying that.  Are you?  Are you enjoying the fact that you don't have to write papers or go to class on saturdays anymore because you should be.  Because dude, I don't have to tell you how not fun THAT was.

Also self, you need to CALM THE F DOWN.  Why in the world do you worry so much?  You're not starving to death or homeless or gravely ill or even in jeopardy of any of those things occurring in the near future.  So chill why don't ya?!  The universe and the big guy upstairs are taking care of you.  So just chillax already.

Self, stop nit picking.  You are great just the way you are.  Enjoy the body you have and your "quirky" personality.  Enjoy your family and friends while they are close and warm and here.  Be nice to your SP, because you really lucked out there, lets not lie.  Enjoy your life now.  Live it.  That doesn't mean stop planning for the future (because god knows you are a freakish planner/worrier) but loosen up every once in a while and enjoy the moment.

Little Self this much I know is true.  Everything WILL BE OK.

What you are failing to realize is that it already is...

Much love,

Your future self.

Recap of our monterey trip and pics to come soon.

Oh yeah, and tonight we're having pre-easter easter...And I bought a 10lb ham.  What have I gotten myself into?!

Insomniatic Ramblings

This is what we look like when we are not doing the sleepy - ie Sarah McCranky Pants

Oh hey, remember that one time I never slept?  Yeah me too, its right now.  There is nothing like topping off a not so great work day with a whole lotta not sleepin.  I think I have stress insomnia.  That or the universe is really plotting to kill me by keeping me up all night long for no good reason.

Good news though is that the sun came out – oh haaaaayyyy mr. sun, haven’t seen you in a long time, you lookin fine.

Also today (because you get to say today when it’s 2:04am) is Friday which means the weekend is upon us.  Glory hallelujah.

Also also tomorrow I’m running a 5k.  We use the word running loosely as in walking with small amounts of jogging because dudes I’m so out of shape right now running 3 miles aint happening.  Sad considering I ran a ½ marathon around this time last year.  Baby steps I guess.

Also also also tomorrow we are going to see SP’s brother play football.  Go Midvalley Militia.    If you know me, which you do if you are reading this (Hi Mom) then you know that I know essentially nothing about football.  But that’s ok because I make a really great cheerleader. L-E-T-S-G-O lets go lets go!

And now I want some nachos but instead I think I will try to sleep again.

Good night.  Good morning?

Confessions of a would-be baby snatcher

So if you know me, you know its no secret that I covet my neighbors baby.  Like I have mad baby fever.  And no I'm not one of those girls that planned out her life and decided that at 22.34yrs I would marry and at 24.75yrs I would have twin girls named lemonjello and oranjello (say with an accent so it sounds like LA-MONjallo) and have been collecting swatches of pink fabric for their nursery since I was 10 (not that that's a bad thing if that's what YOU did).  But I have always liked kids and they (along with little furry animals and strangers who need to tell their life stories to someone) have always had a freakish affinity for me.

So you can't blame me for wanting a squishy little one of my own right?  No you can't.  What you can fault me for is the way in which I have been planning on obtaining one said baby.

As of right now the current plan is to take my biggest purse to a well populated baby area and collect one adorable small child into said purse and then run away.  I do understand that there are some flaws in this plan (ie felony abduction, inability to run fast enough and such) but it seems so easy sometimes.

Tired parents/nannies + super cute babies wandering around aimlessly + one giant purse + one baby snatcher = happy sarah.

Ok people, obviously I'm not stealing a baby (right now).  And my friends and SP have put the kabash on the baby snatching jokes in public (apparently its like SO not kosher to joke about stealing babies - right up there with joking about bombs in airports or something).

I did go to a supercool baby shower on Saturday though that only fueled my desire for small squishy people.  I guess its good that all these people around me are having babies right now so that I can borrow them instead of stealing one...  I don't know though...I do have a pretty big purse right now =)

In other good (and more socially acceptable) news - the sun came out tonight.  And thus I (and the rest of the known world) rejoiced for many hours.  SP and I even took furball to the river for a run - which really hurt p.s.

Upcoming life highlights:
  • 5k this weekend (hahahahah - ouch is all I have to say to that)
  • Monterey :)
  • Orphan Easter (wherein good friends come over to finally see the apartment and eat good food)
Fun stuff!

Light Box - insert head here...

Its that time of year again.

The time of year when I seriously consider investing in a light box to stick my head under.  I think personally that I've gotten better with this whole gloom and rain nonsense in the past 6 years that I've been here but honestly enough is enough sometimes.  And peeps, I'm sorry but I was bred in SOUTHERN CA where the sun shines like 345.5 days a year and thusly my soul craves the light - in a similar way to which it craves coffee, and chocolate...but I digress.  As the point here is, WHERE THE FRICK IS THE SUN?

To make the doom and gloom worse the dog has taken up peeing inside again.  And therefore I have taken up hating her again.  It is clearly natures' reasoning to make animals and babies cute so that you don't kill them when they annoy the crap out of you for the 90th time.  Because honestly there is not a whole lot else saving that tiny furry face these days.

Bah humbug.

Bonus of the week - Cesar Chavez.  The purveyor of short weeks.  Muchas Gracias Cesar!  My tired brain and body appreciate the extra sleep they are going to enjoy tomorrow.  I will also eat some organic, locally grown fruit picked by humane farms in your honor.

Good luck with your light boxes kids.  Stay dry...and lit up.
